The Clerk & Recorder’s office is responsible for administering elections, issuing motor vehicle titles and registrations, recording public documents, and maintaining accurate county records. Much of this work happens behind the scenes and is guided by state law to ensure consistency, security, and accuracy.

The Clerk serves as the county’s chief elections official and oversees all aspects of local elections, including ballot processing, security procedures, audits, and compliance with Colorado election law. Elections must be run according to strict legal requirements to ensure accuracy, transparency, and public trust.

Yuma County elections follow Colorado’s election security standards, which include secure ballot handling, chain-of-custody procedures, bipartisan oversight, and post-election audits. The most recent election was conducted smoothly and passed all required audits.

My work is guided by three core principles: secure elections, honesty and transparency, and customer service. I believe public service should be grounded in integrity, fairness, and respect for every individual.

Haleigh was appointed as Yuma County Clerk & Recorder in 2025 and is currently serving in the role. She brings a strong professional background in healthcare, where she worked in detail-oriented, high-responsibility positions serving seniors, individuals with disabilities, and families. She understands the importance of accuracy, professionalism, and compassion in public service.

The November election took place during a transition from long-standing leadership and was administered successfully. The election followed all legal requirements, passed required audits, and was conducted securely and efficiently. It was truly successful because of the wonderful staff and volunteers that worked diligently for the success of the election. I am so appreciative and thankful for each person that was a part of the process.

Customer service means treating every person with patience, respect, and professionalism. Whether someone is voting, registering a vehicle, or recording documents, Haleigh believes people deserve clear communication and courteous service, even in stressful or difficult situations.

Election security means following the law exactly as written and protecting the integrity of the process at every step. Elections are secured by strict chain-of-custody procedures, controlled access to election materials, required audits, and clear documentation that can be reviewed and verified.

Election security is not about shortcuts or personal opinions, it is about doing the job by the book, limiting access to authorized personnel, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring every ballot is handled lawfully and transparently.

I believe secure elections are achieved through accountability, compliance with state law, and respect for established procedures, not political pressure.

Under my leadership, Yuma County elections have followed Colorado law to the letter, passed all required audits, and been administered in a way that protects voter confidence and public trust.

I am seeking a full term as Clerk & Recorder to continue providing steady leadership, strengthen staff training, and ensure the office remains secure, transparent, and focused on serving the people of Yuma County.
